Grading Standards
OCE Grading uses a highly accurate 10 point grading scale (1-10). Cards which exhibit high-end qualities within each particular grade may receive a half-point grade increase (eg. 9.5). Four categories of your cards condition are inspected and designated a grade: surface, centering, corners and edges.
These four subgrades are then used in our algorithm to calculate the final grade. Our algorithm uses averages along with other conditions to determine the most accurate overall grade for your collectible.

Centering:
Card exhibits near perfect centering within a tolerance of 55/45 on front and 60/40 on the back.

Surface:
Card exhibits a perfectly clean surface with no flaws. Showing original gloss/finish.

Edges:
The edges of the card have no flaws with a clean factory cut.
​
Corners:
The corners of the card should be perfectly symmetrical with no flaws.
​

Pristine 10 - Black Label
Centering:
Card exhibits near perfect centering within a tolerance of 55/45 on front and 60/40 on the back.

Gem Mint 9.5 - Gold Label
Centering:
Card exhibits near perfect centering within a tolerance of 65/35 on front and 75/25 on the back.

Surface:
Card exhibits a near perfectly clean surface with only one minor imperfection.
​
Edges:
The edges of the card are near flawless with only one minor imperfection.
​
Corners:
The corners of the card should be near perfect with only one minor imperfection.

Mint 9 - Silver Label
Centering:
Card exhibits centering within a tolerance of 90/10 on front and any tolerance on the back.

Surface:
Card has a very clean surface, may exhibit some minor scratching or print imperfection.

Edges:
The edges of the card are near flawless at most two minor imperfections.
​
Corners:
The corners of the card should be near perfect with at most two minor imperfections.

NM - MT 8 - Silver Label
Centering:
Card exhibits centering worse than 90/10 and may be considered for OC/Error Qualifier.

Surface:
Card exhibits a clean surface, may have slight scratching, scuffs or print imperfections.
​
Edges:
The edges of the card will exhibit light wear or chipping.
​
Corners:
The corners of the card will show wear through light fraying or some whitening.
​

Near Mint 7 - Silver Label
Centering:
Card exhibits centering worse than 90/10 and may be considered for OC/Error Qualifier.

Surface:
Card exhibits visible surface wear/printing defects or exhibit one minor crease.
​
Edges:
The edges of the card will exhibit noticeable wear/chipping or minor indent.
​
Corners:
The corners of the card will show noticeable wear through light fraying and whitening.

EXC - NM 6 - Silver Label
Centering:
Card exhibits centering worse than 90/10 and may be considered for OC/Error Qualifier.

Surface:
Card exhibits some easily visible surface wear. May exhibit some staining/scratching/light creases.
​
Edges:
The edges of the card will exhibit noticeable wear including chipping/fraying or indents.
​
Corners:
The corners of the card will show noticeable wear - indents may be present.

Excellent 5 - Silver Label
Centering:
Card exhibits centering worse than 90/10 and may be considered for OC/Error Qualifier.

Surface:
Card exhibits easily visible surface wear with many scratches/creases/staining.
​
Edges:
The edges of the card will exhibit substantial wear. Heavy chipping/fraying/indents.
​
Corners:
The corners of the card will show substantial wear. Heavy fraying/chipping/indents.

VG-EXC 4 - Silver Label
Centering:
Card exhibits centering worse than 90/10 and may be considered for OC/Error Qualifier.

Surface:
Card exhibits a impaired surface. With heavy scratches/staining and creases.
​
Edges:
The edges of the card will exhibit significant wear. Heavy chipping/fraying/indents.

Corners:
The corners of the card will show significant wear. Heavy fraying/chipping/indents.

Very Good 3 - Silver Label
Centering:
Card exhibits centering worse than 90/10 and may be considered for OC/Error Qualifier.

Surface:
Card exhibits a significantly impaired surface. With heavy scratches/staining/creases.
​
Edges:
The edges of the card will exhibit extensive wear. Heavy chipping/fraying/indents.

The corners of the card will show extensive wear. Heavy fraying/chipping/indents.

Good 2 - Silver Label
Centering:
Card exhibits centering worse than 90/10 and may be considered for OC/Error Qualifier.

Card exhibits a significantly damaged surface. With heavy scratches/staining/creases.

Edges:
The edges of the card will exhibit extensive damage. Heavy chipping/fraying/indents.

The corners of the card will show extensive damage. Heavy fraying/chipping/indents.

Poor 1 - Silver Label
